The Punch and Judy Fellowship is pledged to ensuring that its members are not asked
wrongly for DBS checks (formerly CRB). A check may only be requested when the performer
is engaged in a ‘regulated activity’ as officially defined. This definition is centred
on frequent and intensive contact with the same children in the same place by someone
who is employed in a supervising capacity. DBS checks are not relevant to booking
a Punch and Judy performance. This includes visits to schools. Requesting a check

Membership Status
A ‘Full Member’ is a performer whose show has been carefully assessed and is considered by the committee of the Punch and Judy Fellowship to be providing a performance that offers ‘a basic level of proficiency’ or above.
Assessment criteria include the ability to speak with the authentic voice of Mr Punch (the swazzle), overall appearance and entertainment value.

Professor Gary Wilson

Since winning the title of 'Britain's Most Promising Young Professor' in 1999, Gary has performed at major events and puppet festivals all over the country.
His show is a familiar sight at the seaside town of Weston-super-Mare where he has been booked to perform on the beaches and in the parks for the last seven summer seasons.
Be it a small village fete or a large music festival Gary's traditional show never fails to amaze, amuse and delight both adults and children alike. Gary is also a professional actor.

Mel Harvey is a Punch Professor based in Wellesbourne near Warwick. He has been performing his traditional Victorian Punch and Judy Show for a number of years at fetes, parties,schools, cruise ships and Victorian Fairs.
As you will see from the photo Mel has lots of colourful hand carved puppets to choose from which he presents in his traditional red and white striped booth.
Children and their parents respond very well to Mel's show which uses the traditional 'Punch Voice'. Although based in the Midlands Mel travels all over the country not only doing shows but Mel also giving talks to schools and other organisations.
